The 50-hour Pharmacy Technician Program teaches the skills needed to pursue an entry- level position in the Pharmacy Technician field. Topics includes the role of the pharmacy technician, measures and abbreviations, review of drugs, basic biopharmaceuticals, dosage forms, patient profiles, basics of IV solutions, calculating solutions, and TPN. Textbooks are included in the class fee and handed out during class.
Note: Upon successful completion of the programs, students are eligible to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board’s PTCB exam to become a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The cost of the exam is not included in the fee.
Clinical Externship: Students who successfully pass the 50-hour program may elect to participate in the optional 80-hour externship to gain hands on experience in a Pharmacy. Students are responsible for background check, drug screening and other fee requirements for the externship.
