The 140-hour Clinical Medical Assistant Program prepares students to perform patient clinical skills in a medical office setting. Topics include medical terminology, anatomy of the body systems, taking patients’ medical histories, updating files, vital signs and documentation, collecting specimens and point of care testing, phlebotomy, performing 12 lead EKGs, and other procedures. Students who successfully pass the 140-hour program may elect to participate in the optional 160-hour externship to gain hands on experience in a medical office/facility.
Students may also sit for the national certification exam administered through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) once they successfully complete the program. The cost of the national certification exam ($155) is not included in the fee.
Clinical Externship: Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to participate in the optional 160-hour externship with a local healthcare provider. Students are responsible for any background check, drug screening, and other requirements.
Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students would be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.
