The Self-Directed, On-line Clinical Medical Assistant Self-Directed, On-Line Program prepares students to perform patient clinical skills in a medical office setting. Topics include medical terminology, anatomy of the body systems, taking patients’ medical histories, updating files, vital signs and documentation, collecting specimens and point of care testing, phlebotomy, performing 12 lead EKGs, and other procedures.
Students have up to 6 months to complete this self-directed program. Students will be issued electronic textbooks (eTextbooks).
After successfully completing the program, students may sit for the national certification exam administered through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) to become a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
Externship: Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to participate in the optional 160-hour externship with a local healthcare provider. Students are responsible for any background check, drug screening, and other fee requirements needed to participate in the externship.
Students may register and start the Self-Directed, On-Line Program at any time. Program is 100% on-line.
